Overview - Sri Pada (Adam's Peak)
Adam's Peak (2,243m / 7,359 ft) is a revered conical mountain located in the Central Highlands. It is unique as a multi-religious pilgrimage site, with the footprint at the summit attributed to the Buddha (Sri Pada) by Buddhists, Lord Shiva by Hindus, and Adam by Muslims/Christians. The pilgrimage season runs from December to May. Climbers typically start their ascent in the middle of the night via the popular Hatton-Nallathanniya route to reach the summit before dawn. The highlight is the breathtaking sunrise and the fascinating natural phenomenon where the peak casts a huge, perfectly triangular shadow on the clouds and surrounding plains.
