I have visited Iranamadu Tank, a beautiful reservoir in Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka. It is the largest irrigation tank in the Northern Province, and it provides water for agriculture, fishing, and sanitation. I enjoyed the scenic view...

You have to park your vehicle at a one end of the dam and has to walk to see the spillway and water gates. There is a small hydropower system as well. Nothing much to see. There is a ammachchi(hela bojun type food stall) near car park.

Very nice lake in Kilinochchi, Northern province Sri Lanka. Largest tank in Kilinochchi which was built to accumulate rain water for agricultural purposes in dry season. Rice cultivation in dry season totally depend on the lake.

The route suggest in the Google Map is wrong. (Check my photos attached) Set location to "Ammachchi- Iranamadu". You can get a wide view of the tank. Parking is available. Ammachchi outlet and ice cream lorry available near the parking area.

Nice place. you can see crocodiles at the reservoir. Iranamadu reservoir which was supposedly constructed in the year 1921 has been in despair due to the lack of maintenance and destruction caused over the three decades of civil war.
